Jakarta, Kisaient.com – On October 13th, 2024, Kisai Entertainment hosted the Kisai Expo x W-TOON Camp Jakarta at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). This event marked a pivotal moment for the Indonesian webtoon community, bringing creators, industry professionals, and fans together under one roof to celebrate the resilience and potential of the webtoon industry.
Why We Created Kisai Expo
The webtoon industry, especially in Indonesia, has faced challenges, particularly post-pandemic, with local publishers struggling to compete internationally. Kisai Expo was created to reignite the passion for webtoons and remind everyone that the industry is still thriving, offering real career opportunities for Indonesian creators to shine on a global stage.
A Webtoon Bootcamp Inside an Expo
Education is a core focus at Kisai. W-TOON Camp was a key part of the Expo, offering 6 classes based on action and romance, taught by 18 expert instructors from Indonesia and abroad. Participants could choose from Basic, Advanced, and VIP levels, with a rich learning experience tailored to help creators improve their storytelling and artistry. This episode of W-TOON Camp was part of our W-TOON Camp Around Indonesia series, but the Jakarta episode took things to the next level, ensuring that creators received more detailed materials and a richer learning experience.
Expo Highlights
The Kisai Expo was packed with activities aimed at both creators and fans. One of the standout attractions was the Exclusive Kisai Webtoon Exhibition, which showcased the incredible work of local artists and demonstrated the talent thriving in the Indonesian webtoon scene. Attendees were also treated to Webtoon Industry Infographics, giving them insight into the current trends and developments shaping the industry. A particularly special feature was the YLAB Academy Talks, where participants could learn directly from Korea’s leading webtoon academy, gaining valuable knowledge from an institution that has shaped some of the top webtoon creators in the world.
In addition to educational content, the Character Drawing Competition for young artists aged 12-15 provided a space for the next generation of creators to showcase their talent. Fans also had the opportunity to engage with popular creators during the Webtoon Talk Show featuring Fuyuki23 and Demonic BlackCat, and aspiring artists could benefit from personalized feedback during the Live Portfolio Reviews. For those interested in exploring new tools, the Clip Studio Paint Experience Booth allowed attendees to experiment with professional software, and the Stulokal Photobooth added fun, including Booth by Jurno.id, ensuring there was something for everyone at the Expo.
Thank You!
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors and media partners who helped make this event possible. This was our first time organizing an event of this scale, and we sincerely apologize for any shortcomings, as the entire event was fully managed, planned, and executed by the Kisai team, without an external event organizer. We hope to create more events like this in the future, and together, we can continue to grow the webtoon industry in Indonesia. -Kirara-
