What is WebChamp and Why we make it?
The Kisai x Sorajima Southeast Asia Webtoon Championship 2024 is a collaboration between Kisai and Sorajima, one of the leading webtoon publishers in Japan. For the first time, a comic competition is open exclusively to Southeast Asian creators, aiming to support and discover the best talent from the region.
This competition invites creators across Southeast Asia to submit their best one-shot comics in their language. The winning entries will be translated into Japanese and released in Japan on Sorajima’s platform, granting creators an incredible opportunity to reach a wider audience.

It’s truly exciting to see participation from various countries! We can really feel the effort and dedication behind each entry as they work hard to complete their stories. It’s definitely not easy to craft a well-rounded plot within a single episode.
In a one-shot competition like this, participants are challenged not only to create great artwork but also to structure their story’s pacing and flow effectively. It’s amazing to see works from beyond our home country, Indonesia—this proves how incredible the talent in Southeast Asia is! Hopefully, many of these artists will go on to become professional webtoon creators, and we’ll get to read their works in the future.

Interwoven Fates: Explore how seemingly unrelated characters are connected through a web of fate and how their interactions shape their destinies.
Requirement for the story
- Character must have a strong goal/motivation
- There must be an action scene even just a little
- Must have a fantasy/semi fantasy world building (can use real life setting with fantasy element as well)
Submission Criteria

- Panel Count: Minimum of 40 panels, maximum of 120 panels.
- Format: One-shot webtoon Language: All
- Language include English. (must submit script)
- Eligibility: Open to artists residing in Southeast Asia.
- Submission Portal: Submit entries through the Kisai website.
