Check Out the Fun of the ITS Students’ Study Visit to the Webtoon Studio!

Learning to draw is super easy these days. Want to learn coloring, storytelling, or paneling skills? Just open YouTube or TikTok; tutorials are everywhere.

But there’s one thing that tutorials rarely answer. How is a webtoon chapter actually made from start to finish?

It turns out that creating a webtoon isn’t just about drawing well. Behind every chapter are many processes, decisions, and teamwork that you can only fully understand by seeing them in person.

That was exactly what 40+ Visual Communication Design students from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) came to learn during their Study Visit to Kisai Entertainment.

Come Once, and Reality Hits You Right Away!

During the Study Visit, the students didn’t just tour the production studios.

At Kisai, they joined a sharing session on how a single chapter goes through many stages from script to color and finishing, why each webtoon title has different quality standards, and how even changing the order of panels can affect the flow of the story.

One of the biggest eye-openers for the students was discovering how complex the process behind a single chapter really is. After seeing the workflow firsthand, many of them realized that a professional webtoon is created by many different people. Writers, artists, art editors, project managers, and many others all work together throughout the production process.

The discussion also covered topics that are rarely explained online, such as how artists keep the art style consistent across chapters, why communication at every stage is important, and how teams maintain quality from the beginning to the end of production.

By the end of the visit, the students walked away with more than just an understanding of how webtoons are made. They gained a new perspective that behind every chapter are collaboration, workflow, deadlines, and professionalism all of which are just as important as drawing skills. These are the kinds of insights that are difficult to get from online tutorials alone.

The Webtoon Industry Won’t Grow If That Knowledge Is Kept Hidden

As part of Indonesia’s webtoon industry, we believe that publishing more webtoons is not enough. The industry also grows when more people can learn from real experiences, production processes, and shared knowledge.

That is why Kisai’s Study Visit is designed as a place for learning. Participants can see how professional webtoons are made and learn about the different roles behind each chapter. At the same time, we also get to understand their ideas, discover new talent, and explore future opportunities to work together.

We also know that every university, community, and organization has different goals. That is why each Study Visit can be adjusted to fit the participants’ needs, so the discussion focuses on what they want to learn.

Ready To Visit Kisai?!

If your university, community, or organization is curious about what happens behind a webtoon chapter, a Study Visit at Kisai is a great chance to see the process firsthand.

Who knows? One visit might give you a new perspective, help you build new connections, or even become your first step toward a career in the webtoon industry!
