Jakarta, Kisaient.com – November 16, 2024 – Kisai Entertainment continues its journey to strengthen the creative community in the webtoon industry. After traveling across Indonesia with W-TOON Camp, our mini bootcamp for webtoon artists, we’re now expanding our efforts to connect with writers. To kickstart this initiative, we hosted the first Kisai Writer Roundtable—a casual gathering in Jabodetabek designed for sharing ideas, learning, and building connections—at Wayang Bistro, Kota Kasablanka.
Kisai’s CEO, Tessa Yp, opened the session by sharing the company’s vision for the webtoon industry and the role writers play in its growth. This was followed by insights from the Associate Editor-in-Chief, who discussed career opportunities for scriptwriters at Kisai and the unique challenges of adapting stories into the webtoon format. The event brought together 20 writers, including talented names like Ockto Baringbing (writer of 5 Menit Sebelum Tayang), Nomina (writer of Torn Between Alphas and Villainess’ Reprisal Boutique), also NA. Raphaela (writer of Peach & Her Papas).
Throughout the session, participants eagerly asked questions about industry trends, writing techniques, and the types of stories publishers like Kisai are currently seeking. Many of the attendees had prior experience writing novels or stories on platforms like Wattpad but were new to the world of webtoon scripting. The discussions gave them fresh insights into the unique demands of this format and sparked excitement about new possibilities in storytelling. The event also provided an opportunity for a portfolio review. Two writers were selected by the Kisai team to receive detailed feedback, offering not only guidance for the chosen writers but also helpful learning points for everyone present.
This roundtable is just the beginning of Kisai Entertainment’s journey to empower writers and elevate Indonesia’s storytelling talent. Witnessing the passion and potential in the room left us excited for the future. We’re committed to supporting these storytellers as they explore their creative paths and contribute to the vibrant world of webtoons.
