Jakarta, Kisaient.com – After Yogyakarta, Bandung, Makassar, and Medan, the capital city, Jakarta, became the fifth destination for the W-TOON Camp tour, and this time, we brought a concept unlike anything before. It wasn’t just a bootcamp; it was a celebration of creativity and collaboration on a grand scale. Held on Sunday, 13 October 2024, at Jakarta Convention Center, the event brought together 280 participants from across the country, with some traveling by train or plane just to be part of this unforgettable moment.
What made this stop special was its scale and ambition. For the first time, participants were able to choose from six classes tailored to different genres and skill levels. Whether diving deep into the Romance or Action genres, creators were guided by 18 world-class mentors, including local legends like Maghfirare, Sweta Kartika, and Archie the RedCat, alongside international mentors like Nishibuchi and Shohei from Sorajima, Japan, and a representative from YLAB Academy Korea. Each mentor brought unique expertise, offering not just technical knowledge but also insights into the global webtoon industry.
Unlike the previous cities, Jakarta offered three exclusive class levels (Basic, Advanced, and VIP) designed to provide tailored experiences for participants at different stages of their creative journey. The sessions weren’t just about lectures; they included hands-on practice and direct feedback from mentors, ensuring that every attendee left with new tools and perspectives to elevate their craft.
But the true magic of W-TOON Camp Jakarta wasn’t just in the learning—it was in the connections. Creators who arrived as strangers left as friends, forming bonds that we hope will lead to future collaborations and partnerships. The energy in the room was undeniable, as individuals from all walks of life came together, united by a shared passion for storytelling.
This milestone event also reflects a larger vision for the future. Kisai Entertainment is committed to building an ecosystem where webtoon creators can thrive. The success of W-TOON Camp Jakarta is just one step toward that goal. Next year, we’re excited to announce the W-TOON Camp Story Edition, which will focus on the art of storytelling, and the launch of KY Academy, Indonesia’s first art and webtoon academy in partnership with YLAB Academy. These initiatives aim to nurture more talent and bring Indonesian creators to the global stage.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this event possible—the mentors who shared their expertise, the participants who gave their all, and the supporters who believe in the potential of Indonesian webtoons. This is just the beginning. Together, let’s continue to dream, create, and shape the future of the webtoon industry. See you in the next chapter! -Kirara-
